Growing up, I drank pop. Ryne Sandberg and Andre Dawson were household names. Tornado warnings meant summertime, wind chill factor or lake effect snow, wintertime. And singing along to “588-2300, Empire!” was second nature. Now I wear flip-flops in January, complain about the 405 (or the 101, the 10, the 5… they all suck) and marvel when it rains. Chicago, you will always have my heart and soul, but for the time being Los Angeles has my body. Since moving to California a few years back, I’ve been trying to navigate my way through this foreign land of smog and movie stars. For kicks, I decided to write down my random tales – some about Chicago, some LA and some neither – with the hope that others may get as much pleasure in reading of my trials and tribulations as I do in experiencing them.
